TERMS AND CONDITIONS

The following Terms and Conditions apply to all lesson agreements made between Up Tempo Music Lessons LLC (“Up Tempo”) and its students and the parents/caregivers of its students (“the student”).
The Terms and Conditions outlined below may seem strict, but the Up Tempo team has thoroughly discussed them to ensure they are fair for both clients and providers. As a small business operating with minimal margins, we have had to establish these guidelines to protect our organization. They primarily address a small group of individuals who have taken advantage of our services without payment, which jeopardizes the livelihoods of our instructors and managers.
We approach each situation in good faith and with an open mind, and we encourage you to do the same. While there may be instances where the terms favor Up Tempo, there will also be occasions where they favor the student or caregiver.
Communications

Up Tempo sends all correspondence to the student by email or text. If this causes a problem, please let Up Tempo know.

The student is responsible for making Up Tempo aware of any changes to their contact details.

Up Tempo will not be held responsible for any missed communications, late/overdue payments, missed lessons, etc., if this is due to incorrect contact information.

Because of the size of our student roll, Up Tempo sends most communications via bulk delivery services (e.g., mail merge). As a result, errors are possible.

If you notice something incorrect (e.g., lesson or account details), it is not meant offensively. In these cases, please email info@uptempolessons.com so we can correct it as soon as possible.
Student Conduct

Students are expected to treat their fellow students and instructors respectfully and refrain from disruptive or inappropriate behavior during the lesson.

Any inappropriate behavior, such as disrespect, aggression, or harassment toward other students or staff, may result in immediate termination of the lesson agreement.

Up Tempo Music Lessons reserves the right to terminate a lesson agreement for any reason deemed necessary, including but not limited to inappropriate behavior from students or parents, chronic tardiness or absenteeism, or failure to make timely payments.
Scheduling and Pricing
Up Tempo Music Lessons strives to maintain a schedule that respects our students' time and commitment, as well as the Up Tempo team's. The following cancellation policy ensures smooth operations while remaining fair and transparent.
Studio Lessons - Guitar, Piano, Drums
Instrument lessons focus on developing technique, instrument navigation, and a musical vocabulary of tonalities and meters. They are structured as weekly, 40-minute lessons with two students at a time. The instructor works with both students individually and gives them short music exercises to work on while they instruct the other student. Most of our beginner and intermediate students use this format.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are limited and offered as weekly 45-minute lessons. This format is more rigorous and a good fit for advanced students.
Rising Rockstars
Our early childhood music program is a great introduction to music for children ages 4-6. Young students move, sing, and play simple instruments while being immersed in a rich musical environment filled with a wide variety of tonalities and meters. Rising Rockstars is a weekly, 30-minute group lesson.
Scheduling and Pricing
Our lessons run from September to May. In addition to scheduled holiday breaks, five (5) flex weeks are built into the 9-month teaching term. This means that tuition covers 32 lessons over a 37-week available lesson period. Students may use three (3) flex weeks as needed throughout the term, and instructors may use two (2). Students may use flex weeks if they have a conflict or are ill. Students may attend any unused flex weeks at the end of the term free of charge.
Lesson Tuition
Instrument Lessons - 40-minute lessons: 9 monthly installments of $145
Private Lessons - 45-minute lessons: 9 monthly installments of $175
Rising Rockstars - 30-minute lessons: 9 monthly installments of $130
Make-Up Lesson Policy
To better serve our students and provide the highest quality of service to families, we do not offer make-up lessons. This policy allows instructors to dedicate more energy and preparation to each student, as they can focus their time on lesson planning rather than rescheduling. Tuition includes a set number of lessons per session and permits up to five missed lessons (flex weeks). Your tuition continues to support your child even outside of scheduled lessons, as instructors spend considerable time choosing repertoire, preparing materials, planning, and attending competitions. Missing an occasional lesson does not diminish the value of your tuition; instead, it ensures more engaged and effective instruction each week. We grant refunds, discounts, or make-ups only if we cannot deliver the agreed number of lessons.
Withdrawing from Lessons

Enrollment at Up Tempo Music Lessons is for the full school year. By signing up in the fall, families are financially committed through the end of the fall semester, August 31 to December 31.

Students are automatically enrolled in the spring semester unless they submit a written notice of withdrawal by December 15. If we do not receive notice by that date, the student will be committed to lessons through the spring semester, and we will bill the full year’s tuition accordingly.

During the spring semester, Up Tempo requires a 30-day notice to withdraw from lessons. Students will be billed accordingly based on their notification date.

Changes to the Terms and Conditions
The Terms and Conditions described above are agreed to upon enrollment and may be changed at any point by Up Tempo without providing notice to the student.
A copy of the Terms and Conditions will always be available on our website and may be emailed to the student on request.
