Up Tempo offers premier in-home music lessons specially designed for children and young adults. Our unique teaching style leaves students eager to learn more. We strive to make each student feel like a real rock star by making each lesson fun and engaging. With our song-based system, students enjoy the material and get the full academic benefit of music. We believe music helps children and youth development in countless ways through high self-esteem, self-confidence, and strong social skills. future leaders as well.



Andrew Rogers | Founder

Andrew Rogers is the owner of Up Tempo Music Lessons. He grew up in Sioux Falls, SD playing piano and guitar.

After high school, he attended South Dakota State University to further his education in music and business. There he managed the recording studio at the Performing Arts Center and took voice lessons among other musical pursuits. Andrew graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Music Merchandising.

Andrew started Up Tempo Music Lessons in 2014 with a handful of students. Since then, Up Tempo has grown to teach over 50 lessons a week. In the summer of 2015, he organized the first Up Tempo Music concert, and they have held a concert every year since then. 

Andrew currently resides in Sioux Falls, SD with his wife, Abby and their son, Isaac.

Aric Manthey | Instructor

Aric has personally taught over 40 students and coordinated a variety of different student bands. Some of his students played the biggest stages in Sioux Falls and opened for well-known bands, including Kory and the Fireflies and Loverboy. 

Aric is a firm believer in having a great balance with a student's lesson and practice routine. Aric strives for his students to not only be well-rounded musicians but good bandmates and ambassadors to their music program.

Grace Trautman | Instructor

Grace Trautman grew up in Huron, SD where she took piano lessons all through elementary, middle and high school. She was also involved in choir, band, and orchestra, and developed a passion for music. 

After high school, Grace enrolled at the University of Sioux Falls to further her education in Music. She continues to study piano and sings in the Concert Choir. Grace is also the student body vice president and an RA on campus. 

Grace teaches piano lessons with Up Tempo, and she is especially skilled at meeting students wherever they are in their musical journey.

Rich Rohlik | Instructor

Rich grew up in Minnesota and took piano lessons all through high school. He studied music, focusing on voice, at St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota. Rich also gained his Masters of Education from the University of Sioux Falls. He has extensive experience working with kids, most recently as a substitute teacher in the Sioux Falls Public and Catholic schools.

Rich teaches piano and voice lessons and is skilled at bringing students to their full potential as musicians. He gives them the knowledge and skills to express their creativity.

Ben Catus | Instructor

Ben grew up in Iowa and developed an interest in music through playing in local punk rock bands on guitar and drums. He was also involved in jazz band and choir. He graduated from Morningside College in 2016 with a Bachelor's in New Media Production with a Minor in Spanish. Ben currently leads worship at Reach Church in Sioux Falls. He taught lessons at The Academy of Fine Music and the Sioux City Conservatory of Music, and he has taught as a substitute teacher in the Sioux Falls School District.

Ben teaches drums lessons and helps students develop strong fundamentals while keeping lessons creative and engaging.
